New Council of Ministers

Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis announced the names of the new ministers and deputy ministers in a statement. 

Accordingly: 

The new Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierakakis, the new Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Sofia Zaharaki.

Christos Dimas took over the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Stavros Papastavru was appointed as the Minister of Environment and Energy, and Makis Voridis as the Minister of Immigration and Asylum.

Domna Mihailidu became the new Minister of Social Unity and Family, and Vasilis Kikilias became the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Island Policies.

Yannis Kefaloyannis took over the position of Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Akis Skerços took his place in the cabinet as the new Minister of State.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Defense did not change, but one of the three deputy foreign ministers and the deputy defense minister were changed.

While some names were transferred between ministries, new names were appointed to some ministerial and deputy ministerial positions.

The new cabinet members took their oaths at 11:00 on 17.03.2025. Following the oath-taking ceremony, the new cabinet held its first meeting.

The government has been criticized in recent months for the train accident in which 57 people died two years ago and the rising cost of living. Four opposition parties in parliament submitted a motion of no confidence against the government on March 5, and in the vote held in parliament on March 7, the government continued on its path by receiving a vote of confidence with the support of the ruling party deputies.
